The National Sunflower Association is expanding international market development efforts with a new office in South Korea. Executive Director John Sandbakken recently visited the office and met with customers and prospective buyers. “The prospects in South Korea look pretty interesting,” said Sandbakken. “They’re a society that does a lot of baked goods and snack foods, and the quality kernel that we can offer is something they’re looking for.” Sandbakken also highlighted positive market signals for producers. “We’ve picked up about 50 to 75 cents in new-crop prices over the last few weeks. It just shows the industry wants those acres and wants to make sure they get planted.”
