With recent rainfall and warm temperatures supporting strong crop development, attention is rapidly shifting to weed control across the Northern Plains. BASF Business Representative Ryan Cassavan said producers are preparing for an active post-emergence spray season. “These guys have got to get over these acres. The weeds are starting to grow just like the crop is starting to grow.” Cassavan said windy spring conditions caused some growers to hesitate on pre-emergence herbicide applications. “I think now they’re going to start using their laybys and start layering these residual products, and that’s definitely going to help keep these fields clean.”
