The American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers has filed a lawsuit challenging EPA’s finalized Renewable Fuel Standard volumes for 2026 and 2027. Refiners argue the mandate creates excessive compliance costs that could eventually be passed on to consumers. AFPM says compliance costs have recently topped 35 cents per gallon and could exceed $106 billion over the next two years.
