Drought conditions continue to challenge South Dakota farmers and ranchers. Dale Paulson of Wessington, South Dakota, said government-supported infrastructure improvements can be a long-term solution. “Some of these ranches are still dependent on dugouts and dams. Quite honestly, the sooner you get rid of those and get piped water and good tanks, you’re far, far better off.”
