Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative growers were forced to replant five percent of their acres. Director of Research, Mark Bloomquist, said young beets were especially vulnerable during the height of the wind events. “The most affected fields were on the eastern side of our growing area.” Cecospora Leaf Spot becomes the next challenge. “After severe disease pressure in 2025, growers need to be aggressive with the management plans this spring,” said Bloomquist. “The 2025 growing season saw extreme CLS pressure across the growing area, leaving high levels of inoculum for the 2026 crop.”
