USDA Undersecretary for Farm Production and Conservation Richard Fordyce participated in an ag roundtable hosted by North Dakota Senator John Hoeven in Fargo. Fordyce said USDA leadership includes many individuals with farming backgrounds, but emphasized the importance of hearing directly from producers. “Nothing substitutes getting out and talking to farmers and actually listening to issues that are affecting them today,” said Fordyce. “I think I think we’ll make people happy with some of the decisions that are yet to be announced, but the work is being done as we speak.” He also highlighted increased collaboration between USDA mission areas, including research agencies and farm program leaders, to ensure research efforts directly support farm-level decision-making.
