A coalition of consumer groups, trade organizations and food companies is calling on the U.S. Trade Representative’s Office to reject proposals for Section 301 tariffs on imported sugar. The Alliance for Fair Sugar Policy claims the tariffs on over-quota sugar imports would increase the price of sugar for food companies and drive food prices higher. The coalition includes the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Confectioners Association and Consumer Federation of America.
