The Middle East isn’t a typical destination for spring wheat, but there are ripple effects being seen in all of export business. “Ocean freight has gotten more expensive, insurance for some of the vessels and then just execution on it once it gets time to load the ship and and move it,” said Jim Peterson, executive director, North Dakota Wheat Commission. “If you’re trying to price the sale, two, three, four months out, there’s a lot of extra risk.”
