According to the NDSU Crop and Pest Report, the recent heavy winds likely caused some stand damage for small grains in northeast North Dakota. Severe sandblasting was reported in emerged wheat fields, shredding the foliage. Pembina County also had a significant number of sugarbeet acres that need replanting due to wind damage. In south-central and southeastern North Dakota, the report said emergence is good for early-planted wheat, but there are some poor stands in late-planted wheat. The amount of visual soil salinity has expanded due to drier conditions.
