The Chinese Commerce Ministry has released details from the recent trade talks with the United States. Both countries have agreed in principle to discuss tariff reductions. If successful, both sides could see most-favored nation tariff rates or lower. As previously reported, China resumed the registration of hundreds of U.S. beef processing facilities and will restart poultry imports from states free of avian influenza. In return, the U.S. will lift automatic quarantine rules for Chinese dairy imports and consider similar regulations for Chinese aquatic products.
