China and the United States continue discussing tariff reductions and expanded agricultural trade following recent negotiations between the two countries. China has resumed registration of hundreds of U.S. beef processing facilities and plans to restart poultry imports from states free of avian influenza. In return, the U.S. will lift automatic quarantine restrictions on Chinese dairy imports and consider similar rules for aquatic products. Corn Belt Marketing analyst Tyler Endres said additional Chinese beef demand could become supportive for cattle prices, given historically tight U.S. cattle supplies. “Right now with these prices where they’re at, it’s going to be hard to find exportable supplies,” Endres said. “But it’s definitely something to watch.”
