Minnesota poultry producers are facing additional cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza after USDA confirmed 2 more commercial flock infections in Becker County on May 15. One case involved more than 17,000 commercial turkey breeder replacement hens, while a separate commercial breeder operation included nearly 23,000 birds. The new detections follow another confirmed Becker County outbreak earlier in the week and raise Minnesota’s total commercial poultry losses from HPAI to 8 flocks so far in 2026. Minnesota and Indiana remain the only states reporting commercial poultry infections so far this month, according to federal animal health officials. Officials continue urging producers to maintain strict biosecurity measures as concerns remain elevated across major poultry-producing regions.
