The House has approved legislation that would permanently allow year-round sales of E15 fuel nationwide, delivering a major win for the ethanol industry and farm groups seeking expanded domestic demand opportunities. The Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act passed with bipartisan support on a 218-to-203 vote. Minnesota Congressman Brad Finstad said farmers are searching for stronger market opportunities amid uncertain global trade and rising input costs. “We need a new domestic opportunity for our corn; E15 delivers on that,” said Finstad. North Dakota Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak said farmers support this bill. “They want markets, not disaster payments.” Fedorchak noted the ethanol industry contributes $1.7 billion annually to North Dakota’s economy.
