Sulfur may not get as much attention as nitrogen, but WestBred Technical Product Manager Justin Berg says it is becoming increasingly important for wheat production across the Northern Plains. In this week’s WestBred Wheat Report, Berg explains why sulfur deficiencies are showing up more often and how crop rotations are impacting nutrient needs. Berg says research shows soils are no longer supplying as much natural sulfur as they once did, making sulfur applications at planting more critical for achieving strong wheat performance. He also discusses recommended sulfur rates, seed placement considerations, and the yield benefits growers are seeing across WestBred wheat varieties.
