President Donald Trump and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met privately at the White House Thursday as both countries work to improve strained relations and expand trade discussions. Agriculture, tariffs, critical minerals and broader economic cooperation were all part of the meeting. “We’re doing a lot of trading,” President Trump said. “We talked about tariffs, and they would like to have some tariff relief.” The discussions come at a critical time for U.S. agriculture as Brazil remains a major competitor in soybeans, beef, poultry and cotton exports. Trump said additional meetings between the two countries are expected in the months ahead.
