Union Pacific Railroad and Norfolk Southern Railway have refiled an updated merger application with the Surface Transportation Board. The STB denied the first merger application for being incomplete. A group known as ‘Stop the Rail Merger Coalition’ has been formed to oppose the merger. The coalition includes shippers, railroads, labor and the American Farm Bureau Federation.
