South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden has activated the state drought task force. Representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Farm Service Agency, South Dakota State University Extension, the National Weather Service and other agencies are part of the task force. The extreme drought is primarily in the lower third of the state.
