Lingering cold weather could slow planting and crop progress. “As we start to find some drier windows moving forward, getting it early May, the risk of having some colder air around is still significant,” reports Eric Snodgrass, senior science fellow, Nutrien Ag Solutions. While there is plenty of moisture in North Dakota, that doesn’t mean that drought conditions couldn’t develop later in the year. “It has been wet at times and we still have drought that surrounds us. You don’t have to go very far into South Dakota or over into Montana to find drought conditions.”
