The Trump administration is pushing new efforts to reduce fertilizer costs and strengthen domestic production. “Look, we all know that fertilizer input costs are a challenge for our nation’s farmers, and President Trump is focused on it,” said Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. “We’re going to invest in domestic fertilizer manufacturing so we can strengthen our domestic supply chains.” Lutnick said cutting regulations will be key to accelerating that growth. He added that the administration is targeting anti-competitive practices in the market. “We’ve got an executive order that says you’ve got to stop price fixing, make sure there’s no anti-competitive behavior, and also make sure that the foreign influence stays muted.”
