More details are coming out regarding the Agriculture Department reorganization. USDA announced the Food Safety and Inspection Service, and the Research, Education and Economics mission area will be relocating staff outside of Washington, D.C. Urbandale, Iowa will be the site for the new National Food Safety Center. The Food Safety and Inspection Service will have a science center in Athens, Georgia. FSIS will also have staff in Fort Collins, Colorado, to focus on international duties. USDA’s Economic Research Service and National Institute of Food and Agriculture will be moving more employees to Kansas City. The National Agricultural Statistics Service will move some of its staff to St. Louis or other state NASS offices.
