James Callan Associates President Jim Callan says work is still being done on the House farm bill proposal, but it’s on the back burner for now. “There are other major issues that the Congress is facing, not the least of which would be the war supplemental and other ag-related funding measure too.” In the meantime, Callan reminds farmers they have until April 17 to submit an application for the USDA bridge payments. “There is a desire to increase that above the $11-12 billion that was put forth to maybe provide an additional $15 to $17 billion, that’s what I’ve been hearing from some of the folks who are involved in the process.”
