USDA’s planting intentions report had North Dakota canola acres pegged with a 15 percent increase over last year. “It certainly aligns well with what we’ve heard from a lot of canola growers who’ve been speaking within the industry over the past several months,” said Barry Coleman, executive director, Northern Canola Growers Association. Biofuel demand is the driving factor. “The Environmental Protection Agency released their renewable fuel standard volume obligations recently, which is going to be kind of a game-changer for the oilseed sector.”
