Retail fertilizer prices are climbing rapidly. New data from DTN shows all eight major fertilizers are more expensive than a month ago, with five posting gains of five percent or more. Urea is leading the rally, jumping 35 percent to an average of $826 per ton. Anhydrous ammonia and UAN32 are both up 20 percent, with anhydrous topping $1,000 per ton for the first time since 2023. UAN28 has increased 17 percent, while 10-34-0 has moved above $700 per ton, a level not seen in nearly three years. Other nutrients are also trending higher, with MAP exceeding $900 per ton and potash approaching $490. Compared to a year ago, all major fertilizers have increased, led by urea, which is up 46 percent. The sharp rise in input costs is tightening margins for producers and could influence crop mix and planting decisions as farmers balance profitability heading into the 2026 season.
