CoBank President and CEO Tom Halverson says geopolitical tensions, particularly in the Middle East, are creating wide-ranging impacts across agriculture and global supply chains. “We have a whole bunch of vulnerabilities, some of them are going to be long-lasting, and some of them are going to structurally change the business environment.” Halverson says while disruptions can create temporary price opportunities, they are not a dependable foundation for long-term investment. “We could end up with our producers getting a windfall on price. I would call that a non-cyclical transitory thing.”
