As farmers prepare for planting season, Channel Seed Technical Agronomist Derek Crompton says they might want to consider a seed treatment for their soybeans if they haven’t already. “Not every year is the same, but we planted really early last year, and we had a period of two or three weeks that the seed just sat there in 30-degree weather and didn’t do anything, it sounds like we might be in that same pattern.” An early spring is possible. “Other than north of Grand Forks, there’s not a lot of extra water. I think the soil profile is not dry, but it’s not going to take much for it to start turning that direction.”
