A strike is underway at the Swift Beef plant in Greeley, Colorado. The union rejected a request from JBS to negotiate over the weekend. “There is a lot of talk that they may not open this plant ever; it’s unfortunate, but this plant may stay dark for a long period of time,” said Brian Hoops, Midwest Market Solutions. This is the first strike at a U.S. packing plant since 1985 at the Hormel pork processing plant in Austin, Minnesota. That strike lasted more than a year.
