A bipartisan group of nearly 70 lawmakers has asked President Trump to prioritize opening the Japanese market to U.S. fresh table stock potatoes during the Japanese prime minister’s visit to the U.S. this week. With this market access, Japan would likely be the largest export market for fresh potatoes outside of North America. North Dakota Senators Hoeven and Cramer and Minnesota Senators Klobuchar and Smith signed the letter to Trump. House members signing the bill include North Dakota’s Fedorchak and Fischbach from Minnesota.
