North Dakota Farmers Union Vice President Bob Kuylen echoed a sentiment heard throughout this year’s National Farmers Union Convention in New Orleans: low commodity prices and high input costs stress the farm economy. “Right now, we need a 60-bushel crop at $6 a bushel in wheat to break even. To get to either of those seems like an impossibility these days.” NDFU delegate Braylen Bruns, who farms in Valley City, identified data centers as another worry within agriculture. “There’s a lot of concern around keeping local control and making sure things are done right if we’re going to have data centers. There was a lot of talk at the national convention this year surrounding them.”
