According to Senate Agriculture Ranking Member Senator Amy Klobuchar, the Administration’s tariff strategy has caused nothing but uncertainty for farmers. “That is the hardest thing for so many of them. A tariff changes, it goes up, it goes down, they don’t know what to plant, they don’t know what to invest in.” At the same hearing, North Dakota Farmers Union President Matt Perdue noted that trade uncertainty places greater emphasis on domestic markets. “We can grow those domestic opportunities by bolstering renewable fuels markets, expanding local and regional supply chains, and strengthening competition in ag input markets and the markets that we sell into.”
