Farm Economy Challenges Take Center Stage at NFU Convention

Farmers and ag industry professionals have gathered in New Orleans for the 2026 National Farmers Union Convention. NFU President Rob Larew says much of the focus of this year’s convention is on the current economy. “The current state of the farm economy and all of the headwinds and challenges that are facing farmers right now is on the forefront of a lot of folks’ minds. So, this is all about making sure that our current farm policy actually works for most folks.” That involves professionals and experts coming together for difficult discussions. “We’re asking the hard questions, trying to get the input of ag economists into how we can redesign a farm bill safety net that actually meets this particular moment.”
