Farm groups are applauding the House Agriculture Committee for advancing the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026. The bill passed committee on a bipartisan 34 to 17 vote and now moves a step closer to consideration by the full House. American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall says a new farm bill is critical as farmers deal with rising costs, tight margins and economic pressure across rural America. The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture also praised the committee’s action, saying the legislation strengthens market access, food purchasing programs and foreign animal disease protections. Meanwhile, the National Association of Wheat Growers says the bill provides needed certainty for producers facing low commodity prices and global market uncertainty, while urging Congress to move the legislation quickly to the House floor.
