This week’s Drought Monitor had a significant expansion in drought. Fifty-six percent of the winter wheat area is in some form of drought, the highest weekly reading since November of 2024. Dry, drought-like conditions in Minnesota and South Dakota intensified this past week. North Dakota is among the few states with little or no drought. Less than 2% of North Dakota is experiencing abnormally dry conditions, and the remainder of the state is drought-free. The dry area in the state is concentrated in Traill and Cass counties on the North Dakota/Minnesota border.
