In the Purdue University/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer, farmer sentiment rose slightly from last month. Compared to a year ago, Purdue Center for Commercial Agriculture Director Michael Langemeier said this month’s results paint a tougher picture. “The index increased after the ’24 election and remained relatively high through 2025, then really fell after the turn of the year.” Expectations for the future are the primary reason for the shift in sentiment. “I think part of what’s going on there is farmers are losing a little bit of confidence in the long-run policy environment.”
