Pork producers are available to track metrics on crop production, water use and other sustainability efforts through the Pork Cares Farm Impact Report. National Pork Board Chief Sustainability Officer Jamie Burr says these third-party, confidential reports allow farmers to share their story. “Minnesota was really the first state to start this program as a pilot,” said Burr. “A few years ago, there were about 36,000 acres and 685,000 pigs. Minnesota Pork Producers Association and their producers have grown that program in a year to almost double those two numbers, so they’ve got just over 60,000 acres this past year and 1.3 million head of hogs.” The report was being highlighted at the Minnesota Pork Congress.
