Beef checkoff dollars have been used to advance STEM learning in schools. That’s science, technology, engineering and mathematics done through the prism of animal agriculture. “There are many programs, but most of them are at that middle school level,” reports Wishek dairy farmer Denise Rohweder, a member of the North Dakota Beef Commission. This educational effort can also capture a customer for beef. “If we can get the information out there that beef is one of the best, if not the best, protein sources for these kids, it will build a life-long habit for them.”
