North Dakota Farm Service Agency Director Brad Thykeson told farmers in Reynolds that federal assistance programs are meant to provide short-term relief as producers work through financial challenges. Speaking at the Countryside Insurance Agency Farmers Meeting, Thykeson said “these payments aren’t going to fix everything, but they’re kind of, like I say, a Band-Aid on a bleeding wound right now.” He added that farmers are resilient. “They’ll figure it out, as doom and gloom as it looks right now, there’ll be good things coming.” Thykeson also discussed upcoming bridge payments, saying federal money should see money hitting that bank account in March.
