China has slapped an additional 55 percent tariff on beef imports from the United States, Brazil, Australia and other countries. The tariffs kick in when shipments exceed certain quota levels. China has already imposed enhanced inspection protocols at its ports creating a backlog for imports. As an example, 4,000 containers are reportedly stuck in the Shanghai port.
