U.S. farmers spend nearly $1 billion each year on corn rootworm control and lost yield potential. A multiprong approach is recommended to control CRW, including crop rotation, soil-applied insecticides, and trait strategies. Syngenta has a new corn trait stack coming in 2027 called Durastak. According to Syngenta Corn Product Manager Matt Dolch, it is a ‘game-changer.’ “It is the first three-Bt protein stack for corn rootworm control in the industry,” said Dolch.”Not all traits are created equal. We’ve got an opportunity here from a Syngenta trait perspective with the launch of Durastak hybrids to bring farmers an opportunity to change it up. We can’t keep doing the same thing year after year after year and expect different results.” The Durastak three-Bt protein molecular trait stack is described as a way to deliver a long-term solution to corn rootworm.
