U.S. ethanol production surged to a new record in the week ending December 12, according to the Energy Information Administration. Average output climbed to 1.13 million barrels per day, up from 1.11 million the previous week and topping the record set just two weeks earlier. Ethanol inventories declined during the week to 22.4 million barrels.
