The U.S. is preparing to reopen an old trade dispute with China just days before President Trump meets Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea. The U.S. Trade Representative’s Office plans to launch a new investigation into whether China has upheld its commitments under the Phase One trade deal signed during Trump’s first term. The review, expected to begin with a request for industry and labor input, could lead to new tariffs under Section 301 of the Trade Act.
