American Crystal Sugar Company is preparing for the fall sugarbeet harvest campaign. “We’ve got a nice crop coming,” says General Agronomist Joe Hastings. “However, when we can start putting this crop in the pile is the big concern.” While waiting for the temps to dip low enough to start piling, Hastings said the focus is on prepping their harvest crews. “We’re training a lot of crews right now, getting them familiar with the equipment, if they haven’t been around it before. We need all these people and are grateful to have them come to our area to help with the beet harvest, even if it’s only for a couple of weeks out of the year.”
