National Sunflower Association Executive Director John Sandbakken said the favorable weather the past week has accelerated crop maturity. “We had the rain in mid-September and that kind of slowed things down a little bit as far as crop maturity, but overall these last few days with these above normal temps really have pushed the crop along.” Sandbakken added that overall crop ratings are among the best in recent years. “I would say that the crop is going to be above average this year; we’re in that good to excellent category in both the Dakotas and Minnesota.”
