Ahead of a possible government shutdown, the White House is preparing to permanently cut the government workforce. Rather than the standard employee furloughs, the Office of Management and Budget is making plans to eliminate certain jobs, including USDA employees. House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member Angie Craig released a statement, saying the Trump Administration has already cut 15 percent of the USDA workforce. Craig said the threat of mass firings during an economic crisis in agriculture “is malicious and cruel and would only further the pain in farm country.”
