The One Big Beautiful Bill included numerous provisions for agriculture. During a presentation at the RRFN Building at Big Iron, AgCountry Farm Credit Services Vice President of Legislative and Public Affairs Andy Martin said the policy changes “range from increases to PLC reference prices, updates to the disaster program and big implications to the tax title.” There is also an opportunity for farmers to request an increase in base acres. Martin said there is also some movement on Capitol Hill for the so-called skinny farm bill. “What happened in the One Big Beautiful Bill is they really made improvements to the commodity title, the crop insurance title and some updates to the conservation title, but there’s more work to be done.” The question now remains if there is “enough oxygen in the room” to complete a farm bill before the end of the year. Martin’s presentation can be found online. AgCountry also hosted a session on tax changes and farm succession planning and a session on crop insurance.
