Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins echoed the President’s America First agenda during an appearance on Fox Thursday. The USDA leader praised her boss for his tough stance on trade. “Opening up the markets, cutting deals; Bangladesh just announced a massive purchase of wheat from America, we’ll have more of those coming soon,” said Rollins. “The golden age for our American farmers is around the corner.” The issue of foreign ownership of U.S. farmland was also part of the conversation. Rollins stated China and foreign adversaries owned approximately 2,000 acres of U.S. farmland in 1983. That number is closer to 300,000 acres today. Rollins said much of that land is near U.S. military bases. The highest-profile example was the Fufeng Group’s failed effort to build a corn processing plant in Grand Forks.
