The U.S. International Trade Commission has unanimously voted to maintain the suspension agreements on sugar imported from Mexico. The ITC and Commerce Department go through this process every five years. The suspension agreements were put in place after Mexico cost U.S. sugarbeet and sugarcane producers $4 billion. The continuation of the suspension agreements for another five years is designed to keep Mexico accountable for its trade practices.
