Nationwide, milk production in July was up 3.4 percent from a year earlier. Minnesota milk output was up nearly two percent, helped by the addition of 2,000 cows to the state dairy herd. Milk production in South Dakota rose 10.6 percent. From July of last year to this year, South Dakota milk cow numbers increased by 21,000 head.
