Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins was scheduled to participate in a Dakotafest forum, but weather in Texas prevented her from making that trip. The entire South Dakota congressional delegation was on that stage with numerous topics discussed, ranging from trade to biofuels; from the farm bill to workforce issues. The controversial Make America Healthy Again report was also part of the conversation. South Dakota Senator John Thune downplayed those concerns. “We just need to strike a balance and I think that Secretary Rollins will bring that,” said Thune. “*Health and Human Services ) Secretary Kennedy obviously has some strong views on this subject but there is always a push and pull within an administration with the agencies and departments that have jurisdiction over these issues.” Thune believes the approach taken in the final MAHA report will be one of moderation.
