Minnesota Senate Agriculture, Broadband, and Rural Development Committee Chair Aric Putnam has visited over 100 farms in the past three-and-a-half years. During Farmfest, Putnam told RRFN that farmers are anxious about the current farm economy. “Mr. (Thom) Petersen (Minnesota agriculture commissioner) told me that this is the lowest farm income year in 26 years, the lowest farm income in the millennium, so what the government needs to do is not get in your way but give resources and support when you’re having troubles and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
