Before leaving for their August recess, the Senate passed the agriculture appropriations bill for fiscal year 2026. Senate Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee Chair John Hoeven delivered a familiar message after the vote. “This is all about making sure we support our farmers and ranchers with things like world-class ag research to ensure we always have the highest quality, lowest cost food supply for every American.” Hoeven said the bill includes enough funding to meet the demand for direct and guaranteed FSA loans, money to protect the country from avian influenza and other animal health concerns, and the dollars needed to enforce the Packers and Stockyards Act. Specific to North Dakota, Hoeven touted research investments in NDSU and Grand Farm.
